We are so thankful to have wonderful member-owners who have helped to create and sustain the State of Nevada's only community-owned grocery store!
Because we are a member-owned business we get to make day to day hands on decisions about our co-op from folks who live here, grow food here and thrive here. There's no corporate office that tells us how or who to buy from (or that convinces us that a 300 mile radius is truly local). We have developed our own definitions of local and sustainable that are unique to Northern Nevada's food and watershed that we feel make us better stewards of our agricultural land and community. We love watching our local food system grow and we love meeting new farmers and ranchers every week! This week we are thankful for our newest egg producer, Back 40 Farms in Palomino Valley, NV. After our thorough farm inspection with Brianna, the owner, we excited to be selling more organically fed truly LOCAL eggs at the co-op. Look for them in our chill section today...Local eggs are great for pumpkin pies, deviled eggs, biscuits, and just about every other holiday treat you can think of :)
