Great Basin Food Co Op

Become A Local Vendor

Thank you for your interest in selling your products at the Great Basin Community Food Co-op! Our goal is to support local and regional direct producers that meet or exceed our buying guidelines. Please review our website carefully to determine if your practices fit our buying guidelines and that you qualify based on your proximity to our co-op to be a regional direct or local producer.

If your practices do meet or exceed our buying guidelines, please review the following high-level expectations we have for your delivery of products to the Co-op (link).  A more detailed list of these expectations is included in the standard Local Producer Agreement (link) which you will be asked to sign as part of the application process.

If you are prepared to commit to our expectations for your products and delivery, including being a member of our co-op, then please note the following benefits you will receive from being a local or regional direct producer in addition to the sale of your products:

  • A 15% discount on store purchases (including the Foodshed Cafe) and can special order at cost +10% (same as co-op employees) on our new Owner’s Buying Club website.
  • Your marketing bio posted in our store, on our web site, and in our E-Letter and on social media (50k+) distribution
  • And for farmers and ranchers who annually sell more than $1,000 worth or 1,000 pounds of products:
  • Build seniority for our annual crop and meat (GAPS) plan
  • First right of refusal for annual GAPS planning based on years of seniority
  • Free booth at seedling sale, with co-op covering city and bank fees for online credit card sales
  • Invitation to the Love Your Farmer Dinner

GAPS is not an acronym, it means GAP - as in GAP in the planning calendar. We use the GAPS tool to identify which products we sell at the co-op that are not being grown by local and regional direct producers since it is our goal to buy everything possible within the watershed and the mileage parameters. Participating in our GAPS planning process is a key part of the relationship you will have with the co-op as a local or regional direct producer.  At the conclusion of the GAPS planning you will know the volume of crops or meat that the co-op plans to buy from you over the course of the year.  This will allow you to plan your planting, feed your livestock, and plan slaughter dates, knowing that the co-op will be ready to buy your produce or meat.  And while the GAPS plan is truly a plan, and not a legal commitment to purchase, the co-op continues to prioritize purchases from our local and regional direct producers for nearly 20 years!

The next step in our onboarding process is to have you fill out an application for the product(s) you would like to offer. Please be aware that this process can take a minimum of one month for our team to fully review and respond to after you have submitted your application.  At this stage in the process, product placement is not guaranteed.  We will get in touch with you after reviewing the details of your application should we have further questions or concerns.

Please select each of the product(s) you would like to offer to the co-op to complete your application. If you want to sell us multiple types of products, you need to complete one application for each type of product.

After you submit your application, you will receive a copy of our producer application to sign via DocuSign. Please complete that signature as soon as possible so that we can process your entire application.
