Our work on the co-op's next 5-year strategic plan has begun!  💕 🔮  2023 - 2027  🔮 💕

This past weekend, your co-op's leadership team - senior management and the board of directors - met to discuss the start of phase one of GBCFC's five-year strategic plan, 2023-2027.  We had hours of conversations about what it really looks like to run a successful* business, the challenges that our farmers are facing as the Northern Nevada climate and water tables change, and how we can do our part to reduce our in-house single-use plastic consumption.
*For many years our definition of success was just the ability to pay all of our bills, satisfy our member debts (all paid off 9/30/21!!!), and to buy as much local food as possible.  Our co-op turns 17 years old in September and we are imaging a vision of success where sustainability applies as much to our human spirits as it does to our direct ecosystems.  We all came away feeling revitalized and looking forward to our future endeavors.
Above all, co-ops exist to meet their member-owner needs!  A big and necessary part of being able to complete our next five-year strategic plan is gathering input from our beloved member-owners.  Please keep an eye out for the membership survey coming out this fall. ❤️🌞

VEGAN TIRAMISU IN GLASS JARS!!!

Y'all are gonna melt. 🫠  These new lil layered treats from the co-op bakery are ridiculous.  Coconut cream whipped mascarpone nestled between our house-made ladyfinger cake that is soaked in No City Coffee Cold Brew.  Hitting shelves on Friday, July 1st. 🥇
We've also got a classic tiramisu on the way - made with dairy-based mascarpone... taste-tested the first batch last week and a name came to mind, "divine passage" 🤤 💔

We now have PAPER STRAWS at No City Coffee! (pictured left)
Our newest drink - The Jolly Shot!  A layered double espresso shot, sandwiched between a vanilla base, and a heavy whip floater to top it off. (pictured right)

Not sure what to do with lamb? Here's a delicious recipe from one of our board of directors, Earstin Whitten.

Salt
Pepper
Fresh Garlic Crushed (to taste)
Fresh Rosemary (dried will work)
Fresh Oregano (dried will work)
Process:

  • Thaw completely in the fridge, leave at room temp for at least one hour
  • Coat with olive oil and cover with salt, pepper, Rosemary, oregano (or other fresh herbs
    you like)
  • Cook the preheated oven at 400 degrees until internal temp reaches 120 – 130
Degrees (longer for well done, less for rare). 20 – 35 minutes
