Question of the day: What happened at the UNR Farms City Council hearing last night?
Nothing. The meeting was postponed until MARCH 27th at 6:00pm. One of the appellants asked City Council if they can meet at a larger venue if too many people show up, city council said yes. So, we need to let them know how many people are planning on attending well ahead of time. In the same place where the petition to SAVE UNR FARMS was at the main register, there is now an RSVP sign up form. If you are planning on attending the March meeting (and you should if you care about the future of local food in Northern Nevada) then sign up on the list or email RSVP@greatbasinfood.coop.While there are so many reasons for not approving UNR's request to have the 104 acres rezoned, one of the biggest motivations we can give our council members is that WE AS CONSTITUENTS do not want this to happen. We know that there are literally thousands of people in the co-op membership base who care about this issue and who have voiced concern, signed petitions, liked/shared it on facebook and attended previous meetings. However, it all boils down to the City Council decision. Again, once this decision is made there is no going back. So, get the date on your calendar now and RSVP to the meeting on the 27th by coming into the store or emailing RSVP@greatbasinfood.coop so that we can add you to the list.
