THE PAK IS BACK!!
Its been a few years, but we are super excited to announce that Nevada Fresh Pak is back as a regular supplier of local organic produce!! DROPP has already picked up Celery, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Red & Green Cabbage, Romaine, & Kales from NFP in Yerington. Look for these crops in cases and split cases through DROPP and of course in the co-op produce department. You'll see NFP green cabbage is on sale right now for just .99/lb! This is just the start so keep your eyes peeled the rest of harvest season for amazing prices on local organic produce!

Have you seen these Creme Brûlées yet? Crafted with Local Organic Egg [yolks] from Palomino Valley, Organic Cream, and Cane sugar, the silky custard is topped with cracked sugar. Available in our prepared foods coolers in reusable glass jars - bring it back clean and we will refund your dollar. A top-notch sweet treat made with Local Organic ingredients AND reducing waste - win/win.

If you're already a fan of our croissants you gotta try the new ALMOND CROISSANTS! We laminate all pastry dough in house! Filled with a house-made almond paste, and topped with slivered almonds and powdered sugar, the balance of the savory croissant and the natural sweetness of almonds makes for a special pairing. Find em in the bake cases every day!

We have lots of fun new products! From allergen free cookies with veggie extracts (kid approved) to no sugar added plant milk made from bananas and sunflower seeds. Need a cold drink? These new Olipops taste like pure sorcery but only have 2 grams of sugar and loads of gut friendly prebiotics. Or, the new Berri Fit electrolyte drinks with coconut water, manuka honey, maca, and ginseng. Don't miss the GF cauliflower sandwich thins, crackers, pretzels, and chips. And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

IT"S FINALLY HERE! Welcome to melon season with your favorite local melon producer Lattin Farms. Rick Lattin is a fifth generation Nevada farmer and boasts several varieties of melons available at the co-op and through DROPP this season. The Sarah's Choice Melon (pictured with Rick above) has a sweet and juicy flesh, ready for blending or snacking or decorating for summer dishes! Sun jewels [at right] are also in - technically a sweet melon, but often treated more like its cousin the cucumber, as in savory dishes and even pickling applications - whoa, pickled melon?! Melons are high in vitamins A and C while being fat, cholesterol and sodium free. They're an incredibly versatile fruit, great refreshing hydrators for any summer day.

Our Edible Landscape [you walk past or through it every time you visit] is alive and thriving - the peaches, nectarines, grapes, squash, raspberries and beans are all coming in. We have a great crew of humans that tend to this humble strip of urban space every week, but the garden also shines thanks to the tireless crew of tiny pollinators who are always at work. Did you know that somewhere between 75% and 95% of all flowering plants on earth need help with pollination? Bee, bat, bird, butterfly and beetle populations are responsible for the majority of this work, and its estimated that one out of every three bites of food you eat is there because of pollinators! If we want to talk dollars and cents, pollinators add 217 billion dollars to the global economy, and honey bees alone are responsible for between 1.2 and 5.4 billion dollars in agricultural productivity in the United States. In addition to the food that we eat, pollinators support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils, and support other wildlife. Next time you're walking into the co-op, take a second to watch these bees do their thing, ponder on these numbers, the magic wonders of a healthy natural ecosystem, and the raw power of instinctual work ethic - inspiring stuff for sure. With bee populations on the decline largely due to human behavior [or yeah, you could say misbehavior], it is becoming more and more crucial to educate and take steps in supporting our little friends who do so much to support us. There are many simple things we can do to make sure future generations of bees and humans continue to benefit from each other - check out www.pollinator.org for more info!
