Our co-op's marketing team, GM, and Crop Planning/Seasonal Contract crew will all be in attendance next Friday. The co-op's transition to full facility certification will begin with our produce department, our Juice Bar and our Kitchen. This means that we will need to prioritize our work and relationships with local farmers and production companies who are already organic or who are willing to transition in that direction. The simple PROS of going organic:
- It's super easy and after rebates from the National Organic Program (NOP) cost share program will cost you less than $200!
- It raises the value of your goods so that you can get a larger return on them
- It keeps harmful chemicals off of our soil, out of our NV water and away from the living creatures that we care about.
- Pesticides and herbicides are inputs that cost a lot of money, additional economic impact there!

City of Reno Master Plan Update and Local Food
You are invited to join ReImagine Reno for an important discussion about proposed policies related to food policy. The ReImagine Reno team recently released the draft citywide policies as part of the master plan update process and is planning a series of events to gather feedback from the community.
Food policy is one of the topics covered in the citywide policies, and we are hosting a meeting to gather input on this topic specifically. We would love to have you join us for this meeting. The meeting is scheduled for:
Wednesday, April 26, 2017
2:30 p.m.
McKinley Arts & Culture Center
RSVP here! Feel free to share this invitation with others who might be interested.
If you cannot participate at this time, we encourage you to check out the full schedule of events. There are other topic-specific meetings and open houses, which will provide an overview of all draft citywide policies, scheduled April 25-26. Additionally, there will be an online survey posted at Reno.Gov/ReImagineReno at the end of April as another way to provide input on the draft citywide policies.
The invitation is attached. Please help us reach our community local food system leaders and engaged participants by sending this notice to your network!
