The River School Farm is a venue for year-round farming, special events, and educational opportunities that demonstrate a holistic approach to sustainable living, bioregional design, and creative expression.
Our special events include everything from weddings and festivals, to birthday parties and bar-b-ques, to eco-friendly art camps for kids. The River School Farm hosts a variety of classes and workshops that are open to the public. These include dance, yoga, drumming, along with a variety of organic gardening workshops and more!
We grow fruit, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and raise poultry. We specialize in growing greens and root crops year round in hoop houses, low tunnels and row covers. We also grow warm season crops during the summer months. Our deep organic micro eco-farm sites include the River School Farm, Hug High School Gardens, and other small sites. We sell through the Great Basin Food Coop and restaurants. We also collaborate with other market gardeners in our region to sell their produce. The River School Farm works in a cooperative manner with other farmers, gardeners and permaculturists. One of our goals is to advocate, teach, and demonstrate how to grow 20% of our food in the Truckee Meadows.
